Pay Him to Peg You

What's the story of the men who pursue the “T” (that’s “Trans” in LGBT) carnally? Are they straight?

What do these relationships say about the performance of gender?

And can you really separate sex from feeling?

In 2008, a laid-off lawyer in San Francisco began moonlighting as a crossdressing super-shero. Through writing sexual solicitation ads on Craig’s List, I reawakened my childhood dreams of becoming a writer. I tell stories from a sexual subculture never before explored in mainstream culture: with a writer’s knowledge of a poignant story arc; a drag queen’s approach to showmanship; and the classic joke set-ups from working stand-up comedy.

My debut last year at Fringe was met with violence. I was attacked in drag for an innocuous Disney-inspired Princess look while passing out fliers. But I meant what I wrote in my Scotsman’s Op-Ed: it was a random attack.

This year, however, with a new show that is unmistakably sexual in its imagery and storytelling, I do have fears. I’m serving femme fatale realness.

Critical Raves from last year:

Funny, witty, or provocative as well as realistic, serious and entertaining,” wrote Jo Tomalin for The Fringe Review.

The friendly drag queen’s stage presence is unmatched,” wrote Audrey Yeung for The Student. It is raw, passioned, and genuine, where you will feel like you have wandered into a magical spell… truly a memorable contribution to this year’s Fringe. There is nothing else quite like it.”

Telling adult bedtime stories with heart, humor, and humanity.

The Rain and the Roxy

Anatomy of a Solo Show

The rain in Edinburgh has its own persistent agenda. Today, we performed to twelve people, one reviewer, and a very damp dog. Here is what we learned about raw theatrical survival on the Royal Mile.

Standing alone under hot lights is less like acting and more like a structured, slightly manic public confession. A look at how the script fractures and reforms under the pressure of daily performance.
